About Me

Whilst being in awe of artists, the realisation that I could be one escaped me until the age of 32. Now at 49, with seventeen years experience, some consider me worthy of the title “Artist”!

I paint, because it is something I feel very passionate about and I consider it as a vocation. It is an art that requires patience, perseverance and persistence.

Advantages within the act of painting are some drawing skills, some knowledge of colour and sheer determination to have the confidence to perform.

To describe my art, it would be essential to say that “variety is the spice of life”.

Pursuing the sub-conscious, which some call imagination, with canvasses of Abstract Expressionism, full of vibrant colour, vivid colours, which depict episodes that have occurred during my life. Some tell a story, with glimpses of real life, from within a dream state.

Venturing into the conscious, with the combination of eye-hand coordination, producing Still-life and precisely measured Landscapes, that bring me to reality.

To work from a life model is something I consider an honour, I am privileged to be able to attend regular life classes where I try to capture the human form in as few lines as possible. The battle for perspective usually occurs as I sit cross-legged with my paper flat on the floor.
